ANTIQUES - Page 1

Time to shuffle the deck! Hate to put something last but . . . new things to share and love them I do!

Just fyi to you regular browsers, as of this last day of February I have added a few new antique items and today, March 5th I have added a fantastic chamber set. Unfortunately they are on Page 19 of antiques, so you will have to whizz through all the pages. I just wasn't ready to move things around at present. Sorry.

Cottage Hen Engraving

Don't know anything about this engraving but it is very attractive and beautifully framed with a poem entitled "The Cottage Hen" by James Grahame printed on the back. I suspect it is from a book or portfolio. It measures 10 1/2" by 8 1/2". There are three tiny spots of discoloration as you can see in my picture.

Vintage Pencil Box

Lots of fun compartments in this pencil box and a great graphic on the front. It measures 9 1/2" by 2" and is 1 1/2" deep. A small corner of the graphic is missing as I think you can see.

Japenese Pitcher

I guess it was the wonderful butterscotch color that caught my eye. Very attractive I think the picture says it all. The pitcher measures about 4" high and is 5" from handle to spout.

The New England Year

This book written by Hayden S. Pearson was published in 1966. To me this does not seem like that long ago, but it is getting there. I always enjoy these books that go through the year. It is fun to see how it all hold true to present day or not - since it was a long, long time ago! A delightful read.

McCoy Cat Salt and Pepper

Of course these would attract my attention! I don't see these too often and when I do they are too expensive. These seem fairly priced although they do have a repaired chip on the back. I would be happy to send another picture to anyone interested. They measure 3 1/2" high by 2 1/2" across the bottom. Aside from the repaired chip they are in great condition with their original cork stoppers.

Vintage Quilt Runner

If you are familiar with my website you must know how pleased I am when someone can reuse old textiles if they are beyond their original use. Loved the pattern and colors of this runner made from a vintage quilt. It measures 34" by 12". Nicely done.

Vintage French Cafe Au Lait Cup

How wonderful. This French cup was found at a flea market in Paris. Except for some dribbles in the glaze it is in near perfect condition. Three different scenes of children with their pets is pictured around the edge. Of course I picked the one with the cat to show you, and what a cute kitty it is! There is also a duck and a dog. It measures 4 1/2" across the top and 3" high.
